Get to know me in three:
- My home away from home:
- Istanbul was my first love and I try to return as often as possible. Sitting on the banks of the Bosphorus on the European side—watching the sunset over the Asian side of the city, just a ferry ride away—is pure magic. The vast range of cultures present, combined with the incredible language, food, and friends I made there make it my true home away from home.
- The values that influence me:
- Curiosity and independence were instilled in me early on. As the much younger of five siblings and as someone who immigrated from Mexico when I was eight, I had to learn how to adapt and understand new environments very quickly. The curiosity and openness required then are core to who I have become.
- What makes LCW special?
- LCW is not afraid of being on the cutting edge and is ready to go where no others have gone. I am proud to be part of an organization that is so responsive to the evolving needs of our clients and the various cultures in which they operate.
Ada (they/their) sees the workplace as a prime place to usher in societal change and foster empathy. They are excited to bring their project management skills and cross-cultural lens to benefit LCW client organizations. Ada also brings over 12 years of experience in civic engagement, voter advocacy, and electoral politics. These experiences refined their attention to the most minute of details and help ensure that nothing falls through the cracks on their consulting and training engagements.
As a non-binary and queer person in the LGBTQ+ community, Ada is passionate about helping workplaces be more inclusive and ensuring that people of all backgrounds are supported, respected and celebrated for their contribution. They have a particular passion for trans-inclusion and ensuring potential hires feel welcome. Prior to joining LCW Ada was an integral part of employee-led DEI and racial justice initiatives. They have also traveled extensively and spent time living in Morocco, Turkey, Mexico, and aboard the M.V. Explorer while sailing around the world on the Semester at Sea program.
Ada is a graduate of the University of Iowa and has a degree in Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations. Ada is also a native Spanish speaker, is fluent in French, and enjoys continually learning more languages; currently Portuguese and Turkish are bringing them joy to explore. They live in Chicago with their partner, their 7-year-old Chihuahua, and their many plants. They love to spend time outdoors, going rock climbing, relaxing in a hammock reading a good book, or finding ways to stay civically engaged in their community and helping others do so as well.
