The Challenge
As a young organization, Uber faced the challenge of creating a strong vision for diversity and inclusion while managing constant cultural shifts within the global organization. Even before the 2017 Holder report, Uber sought ways to develop high-impact D&I programming. Once the highly publicized report was released, Uber developed a series of 30/60/90-day goals to accelerate culture change globally. Uber commissioned LCW to help design and execute the first in this multi-phased approach.
Our Approach
LCW designed Culture Forward: Driving Inclusion at Uber and delivered it to teams across the US and Europe – starting with the executive leadership team. Then, through our high-touch Train-the-Trainer program, we empowered Uber’s internal facilitators to deliver this program throughout Asia and Latin America. In parallel, we’ve also supported Uber’s executive leadership team by pairing individual leaders with expert coaches. We also regularly conduct D&I Immersion Days to upskill members of Uber’s D&I Team and help them better articulate the case for D&I across business units globally.
"No one in the market has LCW's level of subject matter expertise, combined with the compassion and thoughtfulness to understand our organization’s unique culture. They've been able to continually create innovative solutions that fit and work for us. Further, LCW provides a level of strategic quality that is unparalleled and they always deliver results beyond expectation."
The Impact
To date, over 4,500 people leaders have completed the Culture Forward program. The Train-the-Trainer program continues to receive rave reviews from many who see it as an important asset to their career and a confidence booster for delivering the program back at home.
